Interview

How long have you been making music and how did you decide to start?

I've been involved in music since 2010. I honestly don't know why I started, it's just been something that's always stuck with me and I don't remember when was the exacт beginning of my love for this art. Maybe that's how I was born. Initially, I started playing the bagpipe. Then I joined the orchestra at the former Youth Home, where I started playing the tambura. But thanks to my wild puberty and a lot of heavy metal bands, it became clear to me that folk wasn't exactly what I was looking for, so I bought an electric guitar, and I didn't need to look for my instrument and sound anymore.

What song do you remember most vividly from your childhood?

Rammstein - Sonne . That track is my battle christening in metal music. I remember the first time I heard it, it left me with my face in my hands.

Who are the artists you've listened to and played the most?

In the beginning, I only listened to and played Rammstein, because apart from being a die-hard fan, the guitar parts aren't particularly difficult for more beginner guitarists. Then I got into groove metal, thanks to Pantera and especially Dimebag Darrel, whose riffs and solos I play nonstop. I also love listening to and playing classical pieces, from Bach to Paganini.

Which musical style are you most advanced in?

Definitely all the heavier realms - Thrash, Death metal, Industrial, Metalcore, Deathcore, Black Metal.

What does music give you?

Meaning. A coping mechanism for the world.

Why did you decide to start teaching?

Because I know what it's like to discover everything on your own, by trial and error, from Youtube tutorials, from friends, from watching live performances and covers. I know how much I needed a teacher to "save" me the way, to guide me and give direction in this matter. Unfortunately, in the small town where I was born, there was no specialized guitar teacher, let alone an electric guitar teacher, or any teacher at all teaching the styles I was interested in.

What is the most important thing to learn in music?

The most important thing is to turn it into a need. To be a part of you that you can't do without. To let it "educate" you. To learn to "feel" it. The rest is mastering technique, discipline, and continuous practice.

What is RockSchool for you?

Rockschool is an organization with causes I recognize as my own. The things I've wanted to do for music, the ways I've dreamed of making it more accessible, the space, and the care for the talent being trained there, show me that this is a place for me and that it's a real honor to be a part of this community.

What music is valuable to you?

I don't limit myself to certain genres as I create and compose in quite a variety of styles myself. Any music that can bring me to emotions that I can't describe in simple words, I consider valuable.

What's the most extravagant thing you've listened to lately?

Igorrr's latest stuff, Krzysztof Penderecki's Cosmogonia, and a new track by DJ Malaa.

Do you have a dream related to music?

My dream is to make it accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or financial status. My dream is that music reaches everyone and that everyone can create music as long as they have the desire. Rockschool's causes of giving free lessons to the underprivileged, teaching the blind, and traveling outside the confines of big cities to "bring" music to smaller places are some of the things I've always dreamed of. I'm glad to be a part of that now.
