Interview
I've been making music since 2009. Growing up surrounded by music and gigs, it was one of my main interests until I first got behind a drum set. That's when I realized that they were what I was most drawn to and realized that this was the thing I wanted to do.
What song do you remember most vividly from your childhood?
Manowar's entire discography. But a particular song - I'll never forget the first time I listened to "Metropolis Pt1" by Dream Theater and then the hours spent behind the drums learning the parts.
Who are the artists you've listened to and played the most?
Like any musician, what I play is influenced by how I'm feeling at any given time, and with that the artists that inspire me change. In the beginning I was heavily drawn to Dream Theater, then I went through a more groovy pop sound, and artists like Harry Styles and 5 Seconds Of Summer, and more recently I've been living with mid-20th century music from Big Band Jazz to the dawn of rock with Led Zeppelin and 80's glam.
Which musical style are you most advanced in?
Over the years that's changed too but I'd say stuff from the pop/rock scene to heavier progressive stuff. Generally the stuff I get to play live with all the projects i've been a part of throught the years.
What does music give you?
Everything I can dream of - a purpose in life, a feeling of being in the right place, a thirst for new achievements.
Why did you decide to start teaching music?
Growing up musically without a teacher, I realized over time how important that was. Someone to show you the right things, and also - to do it willingly, giving it to the student themselves. So I am happy when I can give what I feel and know to another with the same interest and purpose.
What is the most important thing to learn in music?
The most important thing to learn in music cannot be taught, but must come from within - the feeling.
What is RockSchool to you?
Springboard. Probably the best developed project of its kind in Bulgaria.
Which music is valuable for you?
Anything that makes you feel.
What's the most extravagant thing you've listened to lately?
Harry Styles. But I won't forget to mention Maneskin. A big bravo to what those artists did.
Do you have a dream related to music?
A dream, a goal - music has been the thing that has lifted me up since I was 12. I would love to one day be part of a music collective that creates music and travels the world doing what they love.
