Interview

How long have you been making music and how did you decide to start?

I started singing in the Sofia Boys Choir, under the direction of prof. Adriana Blagoeva. We have been on tours and festivals all over Europe.

Which song do you remember most vividly from your childhood?

When I was very young I used to watch videotapes of concerts. Staying alive by the Bee Gees grabbed me even then.

Who are the artists you have listened to and played the most?

I was 14 when I started playing guitar. Metallica expressed my teenage inner rebel very well back then. Back then I was constantly replaying tracks from their album "And Justice for All".

Which musical style are you most advanced in?

Since I graduated in the Netherlands, jazz is one of the main styles I'm good at, but I'm involved in rock, pop, soul projects and I'm always open to new challenges.

What does music give you?

Music for me is the world where if you immerse yourself, there is no war, hunger or violence, but love, happiness and joy.

Why did you decide to start teaching music?

Teaching came to me quite naturally. I love working with people, making progress and achieving our successes together.

What is the most important thing to learn in music?

Discipline.

What is RockSchool to you?

Rockschool is a place that gives me the opportunity to work with inspired people and add to their musical journey.

What music is valuable to you?

Music with character, well formed stylistics and most of all a strong message.

What's the most extravagant thing you've listened to lately?

"Atoms for peace" - a project by Tom Yorke (Radiohead), Flea (RHCP) and other key figures. Their album "AMOK" shows experimentation, strong concept and very good production.

Do you have a dream related to music?

I have more of a philosophy related to music and it is "Every day be better than the last." Talent is important, but all of our idols have achieved their success with a lot of work.
