HISTORY

In 2018, we started working on the idea of creating an adapted music education program for the blind through the project "I see through music".

We applied for CHANGE 2018/2019 - an initiative of the Reach 4 Change Foundation and Nova Broadcasting Group. We went through several stages before becoming part of the accelerator program, which included a series of training and workshops. In the final, all teams presented to a jury and only 5 were selected to proceed to the online voting.

We managed to achieve the program's record 57,748 votes of people who accepted our cause as their own and helped us reach first place. In the end, we presented in front of two juries - children and adults. The winner was announced at an official ceremony at the Teatro Theater and to our great happiness the name of the big winner in this edition of CHANGE was Rockschool!

We received BGN 30,000. financial support to enable all blind children to learn the music they love much more easily and effectively. We immediately started training for our teachers and equipped a music room with additional tools and software solutions that any blind child can use.

In November 2019, our scholarship program started, in which 19 children and young people selected after a competition received 48 hours of individual lessons and over 80 hours of individual rehearsals. The program continues in 2020, as we are already preparing our second scholarship program for blind students.

The project "Seeing through music" won the European Parliament award for European Citizen for 2020. The award is given to citizens and organizations that through their projects promote mutual understanding and integration between citizens and support cooperation in the field of culture. For 2020, there were 30 awarded organizations from 25 countries.

THE MISSION

The project "I see through music" is an adapted music education program for blind children and young people. For them, music is a way to see the world in a new way and to be a much more active part of it.

Music develops invaluable personal qualities and skills, including confidence, creativity, discipline, imagination, awareness, and much more. All of them increase the quality of life of people many times over, and we do our best to provide this opportunity for the development of as many students as possible.

Fellows in the program receive the opportunity for intensive 6-month music training, including 48 hours of music lessons and 80 hours of rehearsals on a musical instrument or singing of their choice.

Our goal is to turn the project "I see through music" into an annual scholarship program to support the musical development of dozens of blind children and young people.

The project "I see through music" is part of Music for Bulgaria - a foundation for public benefit, that develops music education and culture in Bulgaria and provides innovative opportunities for growth for all who want to create or play music.
